Ash Treehouse

Ash tree house in Exeter, Devon was originally destined for a different Ash tree but the tree in question was quickly identified as having root decay. This was easily picked up on our site survey by our qualified tree surgeon and designer.

This tree house was designed for a twelve year old boy to enjoy with friends and family. Therefore we wanted an element of privacy as we know what 12 year olds are like. To achieve this we designed a draw bridge ladder that could be hoisted up easily on a pulley system so that when required, no one could enter the tree house.

Another feature was a cantilever balcony to ensure no 'invaders' could climb up when the draw bridge was raised.

The interior was protected from the elements by a Douglas Fir 'waney' edge board and Cedar Shingle roof. Inside we created bunk style beds suspended from the roof trusses as well as fold down seats/beds for friends to sleep on.

There was also a swing and zip-wire for escape routes out of the tree house.
